When you sign up or use Hurreh, we gather some information to make your experience personal and powerful. Here’s exactly what we collect:
Name, email address, phone number, grade/class level, and the name of your child (if you’re a parent registering on their behalf) and school student ID (collected for verification only — see below)..
Quiz scores, time spent on lessons, games played, badges earned, streak counts, and leaderboard positions. This is what powers your personalised learning path.
Device type, operating system, browser version, IP address (approximate location), and app version. Helps us fix bugs and optimise the experience.
We do not collect sensitive information like national ID, financial details, or biometric data.
We collect your school student ID number solely to verify that you are an enrolled student. This information is:
- Encrypted at rest and accessible only to authorised Hurreh staff
- Used only for one-time identity verification — never for marketing, profiling or shared with third parties
- Automatically deleted or permanently anonymised within 30 days of successful verification
- Never stored alongside your learning or game activity data

How we use it
Your data helps us build the best possible learning experience. Here’s how:
- Personalise quizzes, games and learning paths based on your child’s progress
- Send progress updates and reports to parents/guardians
- Award badges, prizes and leaderboard rankings fairly
- Improve our content, fix bugs and develop new features
- Send important account notifications and (opt-in only) learning tips
- Comply with legal obligations under Bangladeshi law
We never sell your data. We never use children’s data for advertising profiling. We never make automated decisions that affect your child’s academic standing without human review.
Children’s privacy 🧒
Hurreh is built for children. Protecting their privacy is not a legal checkbox — it is the core of everything we do.
- Children under 13 can only register with verifiable parental or guardian consent.
- We do not show behavioural advertisements to any user under 18.
- Children’s learning data is never sold or shared for commercial profiling.
- Parents and guardians can request full deletion of their child’s account and all associated data at any time — no questions asked.
- All content accessible to children is moderated and age-appropriate.
- Children’s profiles are private by default; leaderboards show display names only (no real names without guardian approval).

Your rights
You (or your parent/guardian if you’re a minor) have the following rights regarding your data:
- Access: Request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
- Correction: Ask us to fix inaccurate or incomplete information
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data (“right to be forgotten”)
- Portability: Receive your data in a machine-readable format
- Objection: Object to how we process your data in certain circumstances
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw marketing consent at any time via your account settings or by emailing us
We will respond to all data requests within 30 days. There is no fee for making a request.
Cookies & tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the app working smoothly and to understand how it is used. Here’s the breakdown:
- Essential cookies: Required for login sessions and core platform functions. Cannot be disabled.
- Analytics cookies: Help us understand which features are popular and where users get stuck. Fully anonymised. You can opt out.
- Preference cookies: Remember your language, dark mode setting and other preferences.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, social media tracking pixels, or any cross-site tracking technology on pages accessible to child users.
You can manage cookie preferences through your browser settings at any time.
How we keep it safe
We take data security seriously. Our measures include:
- All data transmitted via HTTPS / TLS encryption
- Passwords stored as salted cryptographic hashes — never in plain text
- Access to user data limited to authorised Hurreh staff only, on a need-to-know basis
- Regular security audits and vulnerability testing
- Data stored on servers located in secure, compliant data centres
- Automatic session timeout after periods of inactivity
In the unlikely event of a data breach affecting your information, we will notify you within 72 hours of becoming aware of it, in accordance with applicable law.
